My guess on the reason you got banned was because the thread had died a long time ago and someone recently bumped it, so the mods just want it to die again as it havs no relevance any more, but there isn't sufficient reason to lock it.
well... if 20 or so people posting in the thread you dont want them posting in isnt sufficient reason, then i dont know what is >.>
